Message From O. C. Harry about the Survival Skills Educational Training Resources
Dear Colleague:
The most effective programs are those that address key areas of risk in the offender's life, those that seek to strengthen the personal, that contribute to healthy development, those that provide adequate support, and those that offer long-term stake in the community.
An ex-offender myself who, from personal experience, is an expert on parole and probation failure, I am convinced that, without effective pre-release planning, including the development of a survival skills re-entry plan that addresses employment barriers, most offenders, juvenile and adult, will continue to fail at an alarming rate.
The strategies and information presented in our Survival Skills Educational Training resources have been field-tested, by ex-offenders who have transitioned into successful careers and lifestyles, and are currently living crime-free.
I've been there, done it, and survived, using the survival skills presented in our survival guides for ex-offenders. I have seen other offenders, men who "walked the yard" with me, go on to be successful in their fields of endeavor, including a law school graduate, a college professor, a doctor, and respected entrepreneurs.
